Website Update

I just finished another page in my website. I have given myself the deadline of April 11 to have the interactive section of the site completed. I have a grant due on April 13th and that section of the site really needs to be finished.

Incrementalism

Grünerløkka Projector Play

Packing my time with things I can do in 15 minute chunks...

I have set up the preliminary site for my Mobile Misuse research. Trying to find a place to rent in Oslo (most expensive city in the world...) Trying to rent our house out. A’s school play is this week. I'm teaching & grading & advising students for Fall and Summer registration. Tomorrow is Frieday.

Gearing Up

Well, now that the Fulbright is a reality, I have a million and one things to organize in order to make it happen. Moving house, arranging for a school for A, getting my research organized, etc. I am working on my research bibliography, preparing to order books and deciding how I will document the research. The subject is the creative use of mobile devices and it could easily fit into this blog space, but I'm thinking of setting up a separate site for it. That way this one can remain my personal diary and the other site can be exclusively devoted to the mobile research and making. (The picture is from two weeks ago - a walk I took with a friend around the lake near Kolbotn which is just south of Oslo.)

Metaphor Taking Shape

Metaphor Taking Shape: Poetry, Art, and the Book

I spent the past two days with my friends Clifton Meador and Johanna Drucker at a lovely conference sponsored by the Yale University Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library and the Yale Arts of the Book Collection. Metaphor Taking Shape: Poetry, Art, and the Book was an inspiring array of speakers and panels on one of my favorite subjects. My favorite part was the Friday morning session which had a panel of speakers (Steve Clay, Buzz Spector, Ann Lauterbach and John Yau) talking about collaboration and then a Q&A with the speakers on that subject.

On a side note: I mailed off the signed acceptance forms for the Fulbright today. Now to try to make a list for tracking all the millions of details...

Return from Abroad

Just got back last night from being with this blue alien in Oslo. Need a day or two to recover before I post more. There is photographic evidence...

Early Morning Over Oslo

Puttering in the hotel room before I check out this morning. I have this amazing view over the city, but I left my Pentax cable in New Haven, so all I can post this morning is a fuzzy little shot from my webcam. Bestafar also has a Pentax SLR, so I'll try his cable this weekend while I'm at their house. I want to upload photos from the trip to Flikr.

But, now, for the real news: I have received a Fulbright for research in Norway next year. YeeeHaaa! (as we say in the South)

Becoming Marsha

I am cocooning this weekend with a very sick child. She has been out of school since Wednesday with spiking fevers, flu and an ear infection. I've never seen her this sick. I'm hoping that as the day progresses she will show significant improvement...

In between teaching and nursing (myself & the kid) I have been reading, studying and making visuals for the presentation next week.

I have been reading Impro: Improvisation and the Theatre in addition to my McLuhan collection. I have been watching Mcluhan's Wake and listening to Zenprov a wonderful podcast by the Chicago Improv Associates that combines lessons in improvisation with Zen mindfulness. Much to do before I get on the train for Newark on Monday - so I will probably not have a chance to post again until I leave for Oslo.
